Nkulumane Constituency residents have welcomed a transparent and fair rice distribution initiative led by Honourable Desire Moyo, setting a new standard for equitable resource allocation.

Unlike other constituencies where such programs have sparked controversy, Nkulumane’s structured and community-driven approach has ensured that food aid reaches those who need it the most, regardless of political affiliation.

More than 650 residents benefited from the program, each receiving 5kg of rice. The distribution was coordinated by Square Leaders, trusted community representatives with firsthand knowledge of the most vulnerable members, a move that has been widely praised for eliminating favoritism and ensuring fairness.

For some beneficiaries, this was their first time receiving government food aid, an experience that left them both surprised and grateful.

Nokuthula Ndlovu, a 69-year-old resident, expressed her joy, stating that this was the first time she had ever received food from the government. She praised the initiative, noting that in the past, such programs were often influenced by political affiliation, friendships, or family ties.

Similarly, Gibson Ndibane, a 70-year-old ZANU-PF supporter, admitted that he was initially skeptical about benefiting from the program, given that the MP represents a different political party. However, he was astonished to find beneficiaries from different political backgrounds also receiving rice, describing it as a rare example of good leadership that prioritizes people’s needs over political differences.

He emphasized that Nkulumane is setting an example for the rest of the country by demonstrating that leadership should be about serving the people rather than partisan interests.

Other residents also shared their appreciation for the initiative, with one resident, Maseko, highlighting that he had never been turned away when seeking assistance from the MP’s office. He recalled facing a serious family challenge in the past, where he received support, and he expressed gratitude that the rice distribution was conducted fairly, ensuring that many struggling families in Nkulumane could benefit.

Honourable Desire Moyo’s office emphasized that the initiative was designed to prioritize the most vulnerable groups, including orphans, widows and widowers, child-headed households, elderly individuals without family support, and other disadvantaged community members.

By allowing Square Leaders to identify and verify beneficiaries, the distribution process remained transparent and community-driven, preventing any form of bias or exclusion.

Honourable Desire Moyo reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that government aid is distributed fairly, stressing that the initiative was not just about providing food but about demonstrating a leadership approach based on transparency and accountability.

He emphasized that every decision was guided by the needs of the people rather than political considerations and that Nkulumane would continue setting a high standard for fairness and inclusivity in resource distribution. The success of the initiative has positioned Nkulumane as a model constituency, highlighting the importance of inclusive leadership, community participation, and accountability in addressing local challenges.

As the program continues, Honourable Moyo and his team remain committed to strengthening community trust and ensuring that future aid reaches those who need it most.

Residents have been encouraged to stay engaged with the constituency’s development programs through the Nkulumane Communications Office, which continues to provide updates and support for various initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the people.
